FUNimation is releasing Dragonaut as a "complete series box set" on December 28 2010. The complete set will (as the name implies) contain episodes 1-26 and the same additional material as the two 13-episode half sets (two commentary tracks, clean OP/EDS). The RRP for the complete box set is $59.98 but The Right Stuf are currently having a sale on FUNimation products, so you can preorder the set between now at October 14th for only $35.99. Click here to check it out.

For those interested in the cover art, well, it's nothing we haven't seen before:

If you like the series (and have resisted the half sets) then I'd recommend grabbing this one on sale. The show looks a good deal nicer on DVD and you get a tad less zany TV censorship (in shower/change/swimsuit scenes). Plus idk, the dub commentary tracks are pretty fun.

A second dub clip has been released, you can view it here. This time you get to hear a decent amount of Jin, Gio and Toa (though whether or not that's a good thing is debatable). Of note is the apparent pronunciation of Gio's name in the dub -- "Gee-oh".

Also, the second DVD set (containing episodes 14-26) goes on sale December 29th. RightStuf have a preorder page up now (see here).

RightStuf have updated their preorder page for the first DVD set. It now lists the set as containing episode 1-13 (which we already knew) but it also notes the extra features: textless OP/ED, trailers and a commentary track on episode ten. The product description reads:

With a deadly asteroid hurtling towards Earth, sexy human Dragonauts in tight uniforms and their curvaceous dragon companions come together to create a formidable fighting force with all the right moves. Caught in the middle of this race against time are Jin, a heartbroken young flyboy, and Toa, a voluptuous lady-dragon with an amazing set of intergalactic battle skills.

Jin's down about the fate of his doomed planet, but Toa is quick to grab him by the seat of his pants and lift his sagging spirits. If these star-crossed space cadets can unlock the secrets of their mysterious connection and convince the Dragonauts to join the action, there may yet be hope for planet Earth!

I didn't think it was possible to make the series out to be even more stupid than it actually is, but somehow FUNimation managed it! I take my hat off to them (and their overtly sexual description of the show). Still, commentary on an episode = awesome (it's just a shame there sren't any more - or perhaps some of the R2 extras).

FUNimation has posted a special entry in their blog (see here). It includes a seven-minute "Behind-the scenes" clip, a trailer for the first DVD box set and the very first clip released of the English-language dub.

FUNimation's marketing focus (for better or for worse) is pretty apparent in these clips and can be summed up rather well in their YouTube description of the series: "With an asteroid hurtling towards Earth, sexy human Dragonauts and their curvaceous dragon companions unite to create a formidable fighting force."

I wonder if Howlingstar and Amadeus know they're letting down Team Curvaceous? ;)

Additionally, the official website has been updated to feature the trailer and dub clip.

Dragonaut will be released by FUNimation in two parts (Part 1: episodes 1-13, Part 2: episodes 14-26). The first part hits stores on November 3rd, 2009. The cover has been released and it is as follows (remember, covers are definitely subject to change):

It seems a little disappointing that they used a promo pic instead of an actual DVD cover but hey, whatever. RRP is $49.98 and you can't really argue with that.
